When he was a kid he got all that he wanted. He always figured out ways to get what he wanted. Sometimes he had to study hard to top his class for it and some other time he just had to blackmail his parents into submission. He always had a plan. If it was possible and he wants it, he had it. The equation was very simple.

He grew up to be a very different man, it just was not that simple any more. He wanted many things, most of them contradicting each other. When they seemed simple, there were powers mightier than him at play. At first he fought all the battles with a childish innocence and with supreme confidence of man in command. He was battered, bruised and shattered by this new enemy . Now every time he wanted something, he had to make sure if he wants to fight the battle, for it hurts to win or to lose. Some battles are not worth the pain.

All this left an agitated soul looking for the kid which got lost in the process of growing up, for the magic equation which had all the solutions.

That's a thought. It definitely used to come easier. Now, mostly I don't even know what I want. And if I do, it seems complicated. But, hope remains. Or probably, I stop wanting.

Couldn't agree more with the idea of this post! Lost searching for the Magic equation with all solutions.IMHO, there is no such thing as an equation, there maybe paradigms for success.Whatever it is we should never stop looking, we might just pick up much more valuable things in the process.

I guess fighting battles is what matters when you are a kid, you donot analyse to see if things are 'worth' it.

Is it difficult to detach oneself from the victory or failure and just be bonded to the fight or action? I am trying :)

Beautiful! I myself search for the innocence that got lost in the growing up process.
And yes, now you realize some battles are not worth being fought, but beware it could also be the lethargy devil at work in the background which is tryin to hold you back from fighting.

It's this line in Merchant of Venice that I keep getting reminded of on reading your post:
All things that are,
are with more spirit chased than enjoyed.
